Description

The 5'-nucleotidase cytosolic II (NT5C2) has a critical role in the maintenance of a constant composition of intracellular purine/pyrimidine nucleotides in cooperation with other nucleotidases. NT5C2 preferentially hydrolyzes inosine 5'-monophosphate (IMP) and other purine nucleotides. Aberration in NT5C2 is related to the urate production in hyperuricemia and gout.
