Description 
Adenylate cyclase type 9 (ADCY9) plays a fundamental role in situations where fine interplay between intracellular calcium and cAMP determines the cellular function. ADCY9 is a physiologically relevant docking site for calcineurin. ADCY9 is insensitive to calcium/calmodulin, forskolin and somatostatin. ADCY9 is stimulated by beta-adrenergic receptor activation. ADCY9 is expressed in multiple cells of the lung, with expression highest in airway smooth muscle.
