Adiponectin Antibody

Adiponectin is a protein hormone secreted exclusively by adipocytes that regulates the metabolism of lipids and glucose. Adiponectin inluences the body's response to insulin and has also anti-inflammatory effects on the cells lining the walls of blood vessels. High blood levels of adiponectin are associated with a reduced risk of heart attack. Genetic variations in adiponectin gene are associated with diabetes mellitus type 2. Adiponectin might be used in the treatment of diabetes type 2 and insulin resistance.
