Description 
Green fluorescent protein (GFP) is a 27 kDa protein from the jellyfish Aequorea vicotria which emits a green fluorescence when excited by blue light. It is used primarily as a fusion tag to visually locate proteins within a living cell. It can also be used to determine protein-protein interactions using the yeast two hybrid system and measuring the distance between proteins through fluorescent energy transfer (FRET) assays.
