Metabotropic glutamate receptor 2 (mGluR2) is a receptor for glutamate. The activity of mGluR2 is mediated by a G-protein that inhibits adenylate cyclase activity. mGluR2 mediates suppression of neurotransmission and is involved in synaptogenesis or synaptic stabilization.
