Description

Secretogranin-3 belongs to the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. Secretogranin-3 is expressed in brain, heart, kidney, liver and skeletal muscle but the function of secretogranin-3 is largely unknown. Genetic variations in the secretogranin-3 gene have been suggested to influence the risk of obesity through possible regulation of hypothalamic neuropeptide secretion.
