Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2C 2, also known as Slicer protein or Argonaute-2, provides endonuclease activity to RNA-induced silencing complexes (RISC). Slicer cleaves siRNA/mRNA heteroduplexes bound to RISC. Slicer is essential for embryonic development and RNA-mediated gene silencing (RNAi). Slicer is localised in processing bodies (P bodies) that contain decapping enzymes, a 5'-to-3' exoribonuclease, LSm proteins, and RNAi machinery components.

Each vial contains 0.1 mg of lyophilized peptide. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.

The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200187 is selected from a sequence within the N-term region of human Slicer. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
