Description

Cyclin-D1 (BCL-1) complexes with CDK4 and CDK6 serine/threonine protein kinases to impart substrate specificity. Cyclin-D1 is essential for G1/S phase transition. Following DNA damage, Cyclin-D1 is phosphorylated at Thr-286 by MAP kinases, leading to its FBXO31-mediated ubiquitination and subsequent degradation. Chromosomal aberrations of CCND1 lead to various neoplastic and proliferative disorders.
